Dr Stephanie Burridge trained at the Laban Center (UK), holds a BA in Anthropology/Arts History and a PhD in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School in association with the University of Kent (UK). As Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theatre (1978-2001) she commissioned Australia’s leading choreographers, composers, visual artists and performers – she was awarded the first Choreographic Fellowship at the Australian Choreographic Centre, and a Lifetime Achievement award. Stephanie is a Permanent Resident (PR) in Singapore where she lectures at LASALLE College of the Arts and Singapore Management University. She is considered a leading authority on Asian dance and her anthology collections include Celebrating Dance in Asia and the Pacific; the Routledge Companion to Dance in Asia  and the Pacific; and Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change. In 2022 she co-authored Routledge Choreography: The Basics.

Recent choreographic performances and commissions have been M1 CONTACT Festival Singapore 2017, Adelaide Dance Festival 2018; BOLD Festival Canberra 2017 & 2019; Canberra Dance Theatre 40th Anniversary 2019; MADE Dance Company Tasmania 2020 and Men Dancing project for BOLD, Canberra, 2021. She is the recipient of numerous grants for choreographic and research work from the Australia Council, Arts ACT, NAC Singapore and Singapore International Foundation.
